1 Chronicles Chapters 1-2
Today’s reading, longer than usual, is one you’ll probably skim through, as it is all genealogy.
Some of the names are very familiar to us, but most have been lost to history except as a name on a list. It is indicative of the importance the Hebrews put on ancestry, though, that even those names were carefully recorded and preserved.
Don’t despair, though. While this won’t be the last long list we see in the books of Chronicles, this isn’t all there is.
Lacking any good quotations from the main reading, the quote today is the proverb: a reminder that we don’t need to jump into every argument we see, even if we do have an opinion.

Monday meditation

Proverbs 26:17
Like one who grabs a stray dog by the ears is someone who rushes into a quarrel not their own.

Prayer focus
Lord, grant us the restraint and wisdom to wade into conflict slowly and only after much prayer and consideration.

-Rev. Mark Fleming
