Music makers
1 Chronicles Chapters 6-7
In another long list of names, it’s interesting that one of the few groups singled out as having special duties is the list of musicians in Chapter 6.
They are part of the clan of the Levites, all of whom serve in the temple in one way or another, but the only ones singled out here are the priests who offer sacrifices at the altar and those who “ministered with music” “according to the regulations laid down for them.”
Even in the days of the kings, music was an integral part of worship, and those who provided it were seen as having a special gift and responsibility.

Wednesday meditation
Proverbs 26:20-21
Without wood a fire goes out; without a gossip a quarrel dies down.
As charcoal to embers and as wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome person for kindling strife.
Prayer focus
God bless the musicians whose voices and instruments are a defining part of our praise and worship.
