Promise to David
1 Chronicles Chapters 17-18
Chapters 17 and 18 also repeat material from 2 Samuel, where David wants to build a permanent home for the ark, but God tells him through the prophet Nathan that it is not yet time for that.
God then promises to build David’s house and establish his kingdom. As we now know, the process will not be smooth, but will eventually culminate in the birth of Jesus to usher in an entirely new kind of kingdom.
