Prophecies against enemies
Day 318, Wednesday, June 25
Isaiah 14:28 – Chapter 17
Today’s reading contains prophecies against three of Judah’s enemies: the Philistines, Moab and Damascus.
Embedded in the prophecy against Moab is a reference to the future Messiah: “The oppressor will come to an end, and destruction will cease; the aggressor will vanish from the land. In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it – one from the house of David – one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.”
-Rev. Mark Fleming
Wednesday meditation
Proverbs 31:20-22
She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Prayer focus
Lord, when we are oppressed give us the vision to know that one day oppression will cease. We have a savior who judges with justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.
