Happy endings
Day 321, Saturday, June 28
Isaiah Chapters 23 – 24
Like several of the other prophecies we’ve read in Isaiah, today’s text begins with pain and destruction but ends with God in control in “great glory.”
While we usually think of suffering as punishment, God often uses it for growth and refinement instead.
In the words of Romans 5: “We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
-Rev. Mark Fleming
Thursday meditation
Proverbs 31:23
Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
Prayer focus
God, in our times of turmoil when brother fights against brother and neighbor against neighbor, let us look forward to hope and confidence to the day that we are all united as your children in your kingdom of peace.
