Day 474 Luke 7:18 – 8:39

Are you the one?
Day 474, Friday, Nov. 28
Luke 7:18 – 8:39
When John sends messengers to ask Jesus, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”, Jesus responds with instructions to report what they have witnessed.
“Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.”
Jesus is a living example of the truths that a prophet is to be judged by whether his prophecies come to pass and that a tree is to be judged by its fruit. Not only does what Jesus says will happen actually happen, but he also fulfills the words of the Old Testament prophets.

Friday meditation

Psalms 34:11-22
Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.
Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

Prayer focus
Rescue your servants, Lord. We have seen your mercy and generosity at work in our lives before; don’t let our faith falter.
