‘Empowerment’ (Sermon for Feb. 4, 2024)

Posted on Posted in: Featured, Sermons under construction

The sermon text for today is 1 Corinthians 9:16-23, a passage in which Paul says he was commissioned to proclaim the gospel. He also says he has become a slave to all people, being a Jew to the Jews, a gentile to the gentile and weak to the weak.

The sermon title, though, comes from the Old Testament reading for the day, Isaiah 40:21-31. It says that God does not tire, and “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;  but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
