Lately I’ve come across a couple terms in social and secular media: “New Apostolic Reformation” and “Seven-mountain Mandate.” Both blur the lines between vital Christian faith and political activism.
In a recent Substack entry, Dr. David F. Watson addresses those concepts in a piece titled “Politics and the Charismata: Why does God give us gifts, anyway.” He maintains that the spiritual gifts are given to build up the church, not to seek political power.
Our goal as the church, he says, is holiness, not power.
